Great to meet you!

Healing is everyone's inherent right, just as healing involves therapeutic care that is free of judgment and work that is done collaboratively, in a compassionate manner, and in a manner that is tailored to your specific needs. Hi, I am Dr. Neal, and I am committed to providing you with this type of therapeutic care.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and hold a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. I am in the licensure process to become a Clinical Psychologist. In addition, I hold an MS degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology and am a JD Cand. (I have completed 1L of law school.)

My work as a humanitarian at a young age shaped my footsteps towards becoming a mental health provider. I have worked with a multitude of individuals from different ethnic, religious, gender, and educational backgrounds. My work over the years has been with individuals who are suffering from Chronic illness, Mood disturbance, trauma, grief, and even experiencing a life transition. I have worked in Residential treatment facilities, Intensive outpatient and Inpatient facilities, a trauma-only women's facility, and worked with the chronically ill population (Sickle Cell Anemia, Lupus, Cancer, Fibromyalgia, to mention a few). When working with a client, I do not see a diagnosis as that client's identity; I see just an individual who is struggling with symptoms associated with a mental health diagnosis. I often convey to my clients that "Your challenges and struggles do not define you; it is how you go about addressing them that does." I am invested in healing and self-care, not as a cliche but as a way of living a life that is emotionally regulated and self-loving.

My approach to therapy

My years of extensive training allow me to utilize treatment modalities to address dysregulation. From CBT, SFT, DBT, to Mindfulness therapy, I create a treatment plan that is realistic yet effective in restoring your quality of life. I believe in incorporating dual therapeutic approaches as a way to meet my client's needs.

Life is a beautiful journey that, at times, can throw you a curveball, which can leave you feeling stuck and unmotivated. I am here to walk alongside you, to guide you, and assist you in becoming unstuck, having a purpose, a renewed sense of hope, and incorporating healthy coping skills that can encourage you to be the best version of you.

What you can expect from me

In your first session with me, a nurturing and safe space will be established, where you can feel comfortable, heard, and understood. Your session will go at a pace that feels right for you.

A non-biased space where we will discuss what brought you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from our work together. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—just whatever feels manageable. Expectations of the therapy process, what you can expect from me, and how we can collaboratively identify SMART goals will also be discussed.

Before we conclude, we will discuss what future sessions might look like and how we can structure our time in a way that feels supportive and productive for you.

Therapy with Dr. Neal works to transition an individual from a state of despair, confusion, and feeling hopeless to encouraging healthy thoughts, feelings, and a stronger sense of self.
