Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome! I'm April Leighton, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with over 25 years of experience helping children, teens, adults, and couples navigate life's challenges. I work with individuals facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, and emotional regulation. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and judgment-free space where you feel comfortable being yourself. Together, we'll build on your strengths, develop practical tools, and help you move toward a healthier, more balanced life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, client-centered, and tailored to your individual needs. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach, so together we'll identify your goals and choose the strategies that best support your growth. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, strengths-based approaches, psychodynamic techniques, or EMDR-informed interventions. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel comfortable exploring challenges, developing new coping skills, and building confidence in yourself.

What you can expect from me

our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. I'll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, discuss your current concerns, and explore your personal strengths, history, and goals. Together, we'll identify what you hope to achieve and begin creating a treatment plan that feels realistic and meaningful. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, respected, and hopeful, with a clearer understanding of how we'll work together moving forward.
