Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Ariel Heicher, MA, LPC, LCMHC. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with offices in SC and NC, specializing in working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, intrusive thoughts, relationship difficulties, and challenging life transitions.

My approach is grounded in attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and an understanding of how our experiences shape both our emotional lives and nervous systems. I believe meaningful change involves more than simply talking about our struggles. It also requires understanding the underlying patterns, experiences, and physiological responses that keep us feeling stuck.

I integrate traditional psychotherapy with somatic, body-based approaches and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based treatment that can help individuals process painful memories, trauma, and distressing experiences without having to recount every detail.

My goal is to create a warm, collaborative, and compassionate environment where you feel understood and supported. Together, we’ll explore the roots of your difficulties, develop greater emotional awareness, and work toward lasting change so you can feel more connected to yourself and others.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not a clinical checklist. My style is engaged, curious, and compassionate, with a balance of gentle exploration and practical strategies. I take an active role in our work together, helping you recognize connections between your experiences, relationships, and the ways you respond to stress.

Our sessions move at a pace that feels right for you. Sometimes that means exploring difficult emotions or challenging long-held beliefs; other times, it means focusing on tools that help you feel more grounded and confident in everyday life. I value curiosity over judgment and believe that even our most frustrating patterns often began as ways of protecting ourselves.

Ultimately, my goal is to help you move beyond simply managing symptoms toward greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of trust in yourself.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation of trust. I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope might be different in your life. There’s no pressure to share everything at once, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Together, we’ll explore your concerns, discuss your goals, and begin identifying what might be most helpful moving forward. I frequently incorporate Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) when appropriate, as it can be a powerful way to address painful memories, trauma, anxiety, and patterns that traditional talk therapy alone may not fully resolve. We’ll discuss whether ART is a good fit for you and how it might complement our work together.

Above all, I want you to feel heard, respected, and at ease. You don’t need to arrive with the right words or a clear understanding of what’s wrong. We’ll start wherever you are and develop an approach that supports meaningful, lasting change.
