Great to meet you!

Hello and welcome! My name is Ashika Dickerson, and I’m a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner born in Washington, DC, and raised in the DMV area. I love spending time with my family, hosting game nights, singing karaoke, and exploring new foods and desserts. Traveling is a big part of my life—I’ve visited 14 countries so far and hope to see many more! With over 25 years of nursing experience, I’m passionate about helping people find balance, peace, and clarity. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I believe in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and creating a safe, supportive space where healing can grow naturally. Together, we’ll explore patterns, build insight, and create practical strategies to support lasting wellness. My goal is to offer a safe, supportive space where healing can unfold naturally and authentically.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is warm, collaborative, and patient-centered. I believe the most effective treatment happens when we work together, with you as an active participant in your care. Rather than just treating symptoms, I focus on treating the whole person. I use evidence-based practices tailored to your unique needs and goals to focus on the mind, body, and spirit. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to build insight, develop practical coping strategies, and work toward lasting wellness at a pace that feels right for you.

What you can expect from me

During your first session with me, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free space where we focus on getting to know you as a whole person. We’ll talk about what brought you in, your current concerns, your goals for care, and any past experiences with therapy or medication. I’ll also review relevant medical, mental health, and lifestyle factors to gain a clear understanding of your needs.

Most importantly, this first session is about building comfort and trust. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. Together, we’ll begin creating a thoughtful, personalized plan that supports your well-being and sets the foundation for ongoing care.
