Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Ashley Oursler, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor serving individuals, couples, and families throughout Maryland. I want my clients to know that therapy with me is a space where you can be honest, vulnerable, and yourself without fear of judgment. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is built on trust, empathy, and collaboration, and I strive to meet each client where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be. I’ll listen with compassion, celebrate your strengths, and also gently challenge you when it may help you see things from a different perspective. My goal is to create a supportive environment where you feel understood while gaining practical tools, greater self-awareness, and confidence in your ability to navigate life’s challenges.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based, while also being active and goal-oriented. I believe therapy should provide a space where you feel heard and understood, while also helping you develop the insight and skills needed to create meaningful change. I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and other evidence-based techniques to explore how our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we’ll identify patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck, gently challenge unhelpful beliefs, and develop practical strategies for navigating difficult emotions and situations. I strive to meet each client where they are while tailoring treatment to their individual needs, strengths, and goals.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where we’ll begin getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying what you hope to change. We’ll work together to identify meaningful goals and begin exploring the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be contributing to your current struggles. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of where we can begin.
