Great to meet you!

I have a Bachelors Degree from Michigan State and a Master of Social Work degree from Salisbury University. I have been a therapist in North Carolina since 2021.

I am a straight forward therapist who works hard to help clients gain the necessary tools to be able to help themselves. I draw from multiple theories to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Strength Based Therapy, however I lean heavily on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. While you will have time to talk, our sessions will be more than just talking. You will learn and review tools regularly so you are prepared to deal with what life may throw at you outside of sessions.

I have experience working with a variety of mental health disorders to include, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder and trauma. I am currently accepting clients ages 15 and up.

I have also been trained in PC-Care which is a therapy approach that helps to strengthen a parents relationship with their young child. While I am not currently offering PC-Care sessions, I do draw from this when helping parents navigate stress related to parenting.

My approach to therapy

I have a fairly direct approach to therapy while also validating clients' feelings. I believe a strong relationship between the client and therapist is imperative for a successful outcome. You will get an honest response from me and I will always tell you why I feel one approach may be better than another.

In Social Work we have a Code of Ethics that we must follow. One piece of that is that a Client has the Right To Self Determination. This means that you will be included in every part of your treatment. We will work together to create a plan that we are both comfortable with.

What you can expect from me

We will take the first session to get to know each other and determine if we think we are a good fit for each other. I will meet you where you are, and allow you to share your story openly or I can ask questions to guide you through the intake if you are more comfortable with that approach. We will begin to work out our treatment plan together during this first session. As the client, you have a right to self determination so you will have a say in how we proceed with sessions.
