Great to meet you!

My name is Barbara Darby, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) with more than 25 years of clinical experience. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life's challenges and believe that healing occurs through a collaborative therapeutic relationship built on trust, compassion, and authenticity.

As an Army veteran and military spouse, I bring more than 15 years of experience working with active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. I understand the unique challenges of military life, including deployments, transitions, trauma, reintegration, and substance use. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where clients feel understood and empowered to heal.

My approach to therapy

My approach integrates EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other research-supported interventions to help clients heal from trauma, overcome emotional barriers, and develop healthier ways of coping. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore challenges, gain insight, and build resilience.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. You'll have the opportunity to share the concerns, challenges, or goals you'd like to work on, and I'll answer any questions you have about my approach, the therapy process, and what you can expect from working together.

The initial session is also an opportunity for both of us to determine whether we're a good fit. A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful treatment, and I want you to feel comfortable, heard, and supported from the very beginning.
