Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Barbara Rene-Darbouze, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Certified (LCSW-C) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I am the Clinical Program Director of an Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and the owner of Mindfulness Mental Health Services LLC. With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a wide range of clinical settings.

My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion, structure, and empowerment. I specialize in trauma-informed care and have extensive experience supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioral challenges, family conflict, and life transitions. I utilize evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques to help clients better understand their thoughts, regulate their emotions, and develop healthier coping strategies.

I believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. At the same time, I am intentional and direct in helping clients gain insight, take accountability, and make meaningful progress toward their goals. My work is centered on meeting clients where they are while helping them build on their strengths and develop the tools needed to navigate life with confidence.

Whether you are seeking support for yourself or your family, my goal is to walk alongside you in your journey toward healing, growth, and emotional well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client-centered, trauma-informed, and goal-oriented. I believe in meeting each client where they are while creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space for growth and healing. I work collaboratively with clients to understand their experiences, identify patterns, and develop practical strategies to improve their emotional well-being and overall functioning.

I integrate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques to help clients build awareness of their thoughts, regulate their emotions, and strengthen healthy coping skills. My work is grounded in helping clients gain insight while also focusing on real, measurable progress.

My style is both compassionate and direct. I provide empathy and validation, while also gently challenging clients to take accountability, shift unhelpful patterns, and move toward meaningful change. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioral challenges, and family conflict.

Ultimately, my goal is to empower clients by helping them build resilience, improve their relationships, and develop the confidence and tools needed to navigate life’s challenges independently.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, clients can expect a supportive, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel safe to share their thoughts, concerns, and experiences at their own pace. My primary goal is to build rapport, understand what brings you to therapy, and begin developing a clear picture of your needs, strengths, and goals.

We will review your history, current challenges, and any symptoms you may be experiencing, while also identifying what you hope to gain from therapy. I take a collaborative approach, so you will be actively involved in setting meaningful and realistic goals that align with your personal values and desired outcomes.

I also provide an overview of how therapy will work, including the approaches I use—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques—and how these can support your progress. If appropriate, I may introduce initial coping strategies or tools that you can begin using right away.

Overall, you can expect a balance of compassion and structure. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer understanding of the path forward.
