Great to meet you!

I'm Barbara, LPC, and I've spent more than 30 years working in addiction treatment, including years with the State of Maryland. I help adults move through addiction, trauma, anxiety, and depression with steady, experienced care. I listen first, then meet you exactly where you are.

My approach to therapy

I draw on EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy to help clients work through trauma and PTSD without having to relive every detail out loud, alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing for anxiety, depression, and substance use. I'd describe my style as eclectic: I use whatever combination of tools actually fits the person in front of me, whether that means processing grief, rebuilding a relationship, managing family conflict, or adjusting to a major life change. Sessions are practical and judgment-free, with real tools you can use between visits.

What you can expect from me

Sessions are via telehealth, so you can meet from wherever is comfortable. Your first visit with me is simply a conversation: what brought you in, what you have already tried, and what you want to feel different. From there, I build a plan around your pace, not a script. Many clients tell me sessions feel more like talking to someone who has truly seen it all than sitting through a clinical hour.
