Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Bernadette. I practice from the viewpoint of wellness. I ask, "what would one tiny bit of wellness look like in my life. What would change?" I believe that we are all simply searching for wellness. It is what we all have in common. When we can be honest in our internal dialogue, and we use words based in action, then we are more likely to consider making the changes that would benefit our day-to-day experience in our own skin. Wellness looks different for each of us, which is what makes this journey amazing; it is so very personal.

I have a warm approach that uses challenge often. Looking at all aspects of life, growth, and defining satisfaction will give us the contemplation and space we need and deserve to live a fulfilling life - our journey. I am open to meeting in session to talk about life and the challenges faced in your life. This is a clinical hour for YOU. It is a small amount of time in the larger scheme of life.

I obtained my Master's from Gannon University in 2009. I obtained licensure as an LPC 2011. I am familiar and comfortable working with trauma, anxiety, ADHD, ASD, bipolar diagnoses, stress, work stress, familial and relationship struggles, lack of confidence, and with those who just want wellness. I bring into a session psychoeducation often as I truly believe that we can address what we can academically understand in a way that might be different from just "how do you feel?"

My approach is also very conversational. Too much of life needs to feel heavy and guarded. Sessions are a time to focus on your needs and to be honest with yourself. No one is honest when they feel judged. This is a judgement free zone. Truly. We are all simply trying to do our best and grab something meaningful from life.

I look forward to chatting.

My approach to therapy

My approach is conversational and relaxed, with a good amount of challenge and personal honesty. We leave judgement at the door. Challenge and judgement are very different. Challenge helps us to examine our personal goals and what we need to be satisfied in life; it evokes honesty when there is a solid therapeutic relationship.

What you can expect from me

A first session is basically an interview. I get to learn about you, and you get to decide if my style meets your needs. If it does not, I will try my best to lead you in the direction that might be most beneficial. I welcome honest feedback. I have gone to therapy many times in my life, so I an aware of how a first session is an important decision making step. I am not offended by someone who wants a different style. Quite the opposite, I am always so happy to help you explore what you might need and identify a direction that makes the most sense with the provider characteristics or style lingo to help you narrow your search more effectively. However we use that first hour is completely dependent upon you.
