Great to meet you!

Are you tired of waiting months to see a psychiatric provider, or leaving appointments feeling more like a checklist than a person? I'm Bernice Gyamfi, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, and I built Ohana Mental Health after watching a patient in crisis spend two days trying to find a single provider who would see him. That shouldn't happen, and it's why most of my new patients are seen within 3 business days.

I work with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and more, for ages 12 and up. I also offer Medication-Assisted Treatment for patients working through substance use. My appointments are unhurried. I want to understand what's going on in your life before we talk about medication, and I explain everything in plain language, not jargon.

I see patients across Minnesota by telehealth, or in person at my office in Edina. Whole-person care matters to me, mind, body, and spirit, and I welcome faith and spirituality into care for patients who want that included, though it's never assumed or pushed.

If you've felt dismissed, rushed, or unheard by the healthcare system before, I'd like the chance to do it differently.

My approach to therapy

My approach is direct, warm, and judgment-free. I explain things in plain language, not jargon, and build a treatment plan around your whole life, not just a diagnosis. I welcome questions, second opinions, and honesty about what is and isn't working.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment runs longer than a typical med check. We'll talk through what's going on, what's worked before, and what hasn't, so the plan we build actually fits your life.
