Great to meet you!

I'm Bertha White, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with 17 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate trauma, mood disorders, relationship strain, and life transitions. I am a Black woman in this field because I know firsthand how important it is to find a therapist who doesn't require you to educate them on your lived experience.I specialize in trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and bipolar disorder. I work with adolescents, adults, seniors, couples, and families. Whether you're managing the weight of generational pain, a recent crisis, or a slow-burning burnout you've been ignoring — I'm equipped to help you move forward. I accept most major insurance plans and I provide virtual care across Maryland so geography is never a barrier.

My approach to therapy

I don't use a one-size-fits-all approach because you're not a one-size-fits-all person. My work is holistic and strength-based — meaning I start from what you've already survived, not what's gone wrong. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based techniques, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and trauma-informed care depending on what actually fits your situation.Therapy with me is direct but supportive. I'll challenge you when it's productive, and meet you with patience when you need room to process. My goal is always to give you practical skills you can use outside of sessions — tools that belong to you long after our work together ends.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, come as you are. We'll spend time getting to know each other — what's brought you here, what you've already tried, and what healing or progress looks like for you. You don't need to have everything figured out or know the "right" things to say. I'll guide the conversation. You can expect to leave feeling heard — not just listened to, but genuinely understood. By the end of the session, we'll have a clearer sense of whether we're a good fit and what a path forward might look like. There's no pressure, no judgment, and no rush. You set the pace.
