Great to meet you!

Hello there!

My name is Bola Badmus, a licensed clinical therapist who has worked in the mental health field since 2016. I have experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, families, and older adults across community mental health, schools, residential settings, and partial hospitalization programs. I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, attachment concerns, family relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I am fluent in English and Yoruba and am committed to providing culturally responsive care to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and client-centered, with a solid focus on creating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. I tailor treatment to each client’s needs using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, psychoeducation, and Internal Family Systems principles. I also take a holistic approach by considering how physical health, relationships, work, culture, community, and spirituality may affect a client’s well-being. I see myself as an agent of hope who helps clients build resilience, find healing, and rewrite the narratives of their lives one session at a time.

What you can expect from me

I understand that beginning therapy can bring about an array of feelings, and it's completely normal to feel a little nervous. My goal during our first session is to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. Our first session is focused on getting to know one another and establishing a collaborative foundation built on safety, trust, and mutual understanding. We'll talk about what has brought you to therapy, explore your current concerns, and discuss what you hope to achieve. You are always in control of what you choose to share—there is no expectation or pressure to discuss painful experiences or trauma before you feel ready. We'll also review confidentiality, answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process, and discuss how we might work together moving forward. Most importantly, the first session is an opportunity for both of us to determine whether my therapeutic approach is a good fit for your needs. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy, and I want you to feel heard, respected, and supported from the very beginning.
