Great to meet you!

It’s great to meet you! My name is Brandi Duah-Boakye, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I work with adults, couples, and families from many different backgrounds and walks of life. My experience includes helping people work through trauma and PTSD, substance use, grief and loss, depression, stress, relationship concerns, and many of the challenges that simply come with life.

I’m warm, friendly, and I definitely believe there is room for laughter in therapy. I want you to feel like you can talk to me without worrying about being judged. You don’t have to have the perfect words or have everything figured out before coming to therapy. Just come as you are, and we’ll start from there.

I believe everyone has the ability to change when they are given the right tools, support, and motivation. My job is to give you the best of myself while helping you discover the best version of yourself.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is supportive, practical, and focused on you as a whole person. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), including DBT-based approaches when helping clients work through trauma.

I believe your past is an important part of your story, but I don’t believe you have to live there in order to heal. Healing starts with where you are right now. We can acknowledge what happened, understand how it has affected you, and then focus on what you can do today to create the life, relationships, and emotional well-being you want moving forward.

Therapy with me is a partnership. We’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you while also working toward real growth. Sometimes our conversations will be serious, sometimes they may be challenging, and sometimes we may laugh—but there will always be a purpose behind the work we’re doing together.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really about getting to know each other. I want to hear your story, understand what brought you to therapy, and learn what you would like to be different in your life.

I also want you to get a feel for who I am as a therapist. Finding the right therapeutic fit matters, so I don’t expect you to walk into the first session and immediately share everything. We’ll build that comfort and trust together.

My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about what comes next. Many of my sessions feel like a natural conversation with someone who genuinely cares about what you’re saying—but within that conversation, we’re identifying patterns, learning skills, and working toward meaningful change. Therapy can be comfortable and still help you grow.
