Great to meet you!

I’m Dr. Brandi Stiff, a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than a decade of experience caring for individuals and families across the lifespan. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science in Nursing from Concordia University Wisconsin and completed additional advanced practice training at the University of Texas at Arlington.

My approach to mental health care is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe effective treatment begins with listening—not simply identifying symptoms, but understanding the whole person, their experiences, challenges, strengths, and goals. I strive to create an environment where clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in decisions about their care.

My clinical experience includes the evaluation and treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, insomnia, trauma-related concerns, and other psychiatric conditions. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing mental health care while considering the medical, emotional, and lifestyle factors that may influence overall well-being.

In addition to clinical practice, I serve as nursing faculty and have been involved in educating and precepting future nurse practitioners for many years. I also participate in clinical research focused on advancing treatment options in mental health.

At Stiff Health and Wellness Care, my goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care while building genuine therapeutic relationships. I want my clients to feel comfortable asking questions, understanding their treatment options, and working with me to develop a plan that supports meaningful and sustainable progress.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is compassionate, collaborative, and centered on the whole person. I believe clients should feel heard, respected, and comfortable discussing their concerns without fear of judgment. I take time to understand not only the symptoms that bring someone to treatment, but also the life experiences, medical factors, relationships, stressors, and personal goals that may be influencing their mental health.

I use an evidence-based and individualized approach to treatment. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all plan, I work collaboratively with each client to determine which options best fit their needs. When medication is appropriate, I believe in thoughtful prescribing, clear education about treatment options, and ongoing evaluation of effectiveness and tolerability. I also recognize that medication is only one part of mental wellness and encourage strategies that support sleep, healthy routines, coping skills, resilience, and overall well-being.

My clinical focus includes depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, insomnia, trauma-related concerns, mood disorders, and other psychiatric conditions across the lifespan. As both a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring a perspective that considers the important connection between physical and mental health.

Most importantly, I want my clients to be active participants in their care. My role is not simply to prescribe treatment, but to listen, educate, provide clinical guidance, and partner with each person as we work toward greater stability, confidence, and an improved quality of life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a treatment plan that feels appropriate for you. My goal is to create a welcoming, respectful, and judgment-free environment where you can speak openly about what you have been experiencing and what you hope to achieve through treatment.

We will review your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, medications, previous treatment experiences, lifestyle factors, and other circumstances that may be affecting your well-being. I also want to understand what has worked for you, what has not, and what matters most to you moving forward.

Together, we will identify your immediate needs and establish realistic treatment goals. When appropriate, we will discuss medication options, potential benefits and risks, non-medication strategies, and any additional resources or referrals that may support your care. I encourage questions and want you to understand the reasoning behind your treatment recommendations.

You can expect our first session to be collaborative rather than rushed or one-sided. By the end of the visit, my goal is for you to feel heard, have a clearer understanding of your treatment options, and know what our next steps will be. Treatment is a process, and we will continue to evaluate your progress and adjust the plan as your needs evolve.
