Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's completely normal to feel a mix of emotions. Our first session is designed to help us get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust. We'll spend time talking about what brings you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I'll also ask questions about your personal history, relationships, and any significant life experiences that may help me better understand your unique story.
This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about my approach and what therapy with me will look like. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. There is no pressure to tell your entire story during our first meeting—we'll move at a pace that feels right for you.
