Great to meet you!

Welcome! I'm Dr. Brandy Martinez, a licensed clinical psychologist with a passion for helping people move through life's toughest challenges.

I work with a wide range of concerns, including trauma, couples and relationship challenges, anxiety, stress, and emotion regulation, as well as life transitions such as a career change, divorce, a new baby, or grief and loss. My core specialties are trauma-focused therapy and couples therapy.

I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame, with advanced clinical training at Duke University and the Durham VA Health Care System. My approach is grounded in evidence-based treatment, so you can feel confident that the care you receive is both compassionate and backed by research.

My approach to therapy

My style is warm, authentic, and collaborative, and I tailor my approach to meet you where you are.

With individuals, I blend CBT and DBT skills in a structured way, so each session gives you practical tools to use between visits. I also pay close attention to how past trauma can shape the present, whether that shows up as difficulty self-regulating, struggles with people-pleasing or setting healthy boundaries, or communication that feels either too passive or too aggressive.

With couples, I draw on gold-standard, evidence-based approaches that help deepen understanding, build acceptance, and strengthen communication. I'm especially attentive to the ways trauma can create emotional distance, making it harder to feel truly connected to the people we love, and I help couples work through that distance together.

Above all, you'll find a judgment-free space that moves at your pace, one where you feel supported in doing the deeper work that leads to real change.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my priority is getting to know you. We'll spend time exploring what brings you to therapy, what you hope to accomplish by the end of our work together, and what has been getting in the way of the life you envision for yourself.

From there, we'll collaboratively set goals to guide our work and build a treatment plan tailored to what you're looking for. My aim is always to create a space that feels safe, empowering, and non-judgmental, so you feel free to be fully yourself as we work toward the outcomes that matter most to you.
