Great to meet you!

I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a professional background that has allowed me to support people through crisis, change, and some of life's most difficult moments. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I served as a firefighter/EMT and a correctional officer, and later built my nursing career in behavioral health and other complex care settings.

These experiences have shaped the way I connect with people from all backgrounds and walks of life. I understand that finding balance and developing coping skills are important aspects of managing mental health challenges. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, difficulty with focus and attention, and major life transitions.

My style is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I want you to understand that this is a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you are encouraged to speak openly. My priority is to provide you with the tools and support needed to navigate life's obstacles with greater confidence.

"What happens to you matters. How you respond changes everything" — Brandy Nelson

My approach to therapy

I believe effective mental health care means focusing on the whole person, not just managing a list of symptoms. I take time to understand what is happening in the context of your life, including your history, relationships, stressors, physical health, strengths, and goals. Symptoms matter, but so does understanding the person experiencing them.

My approach is individualized, collaborative and solution-oriented. Together, we will look at the full picture and develop a treatment plan that makes sense for you and your life. When medication is appropriate, I believe you should understand what you are taking, why it is being recommended, and what to expect. I welcome questions and shared decision-making throughout the treatment process.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you—not just your symptoms. We will talk about what brought you to care, your current concerns, relevant history, daily life, strengths, challenges, and what you hope to achieve through treatment.

You can expect me to ask questions, listen carefully, and give you space to ask questions of your own. We will discuss my initial impressions and work together to identify next steps. When appropriate, this may include medication, supportive therapy, education, practical strategies, or a combination of approaches. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, informed, and clear about what comes next.
