Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Brigette Elgie, MFT —a trauma-informed marriage and family therapist with more than twenty years of clinical experience. I earned my B.A. in Psychology from Smith College and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. I’ve been licensed in California since 2006 and now hold active MFT licenses in Utah, Washington, New Hampshire, and California Christian Center of Park City.

My work spans inner-city schools, social-service agencies, and private practice, giving me a 360-degree view of the challenges facing children, teens, adults, and families. Clinically, I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, childhood behavior disorders, parenting, grief/loss, and relationships. As a Master Practitioner in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.) and an EMDR-trained therapist, I pair cutting-edge, evidence-based techniques with a warm, relational style that honors each client’s unique story.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and results-oriented. We’ll begin by clarifying what’s keeping you—or your child or relationship—stuck and then tailor treatment to your goals. For many clients, that means blending traditional talk therapy and family-systems work with experiential interventions:

  • Using A.R.T. (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) & EMDR, together we can quickly clear traumatic memories and reduce distress, often in as few as 1-5 sessions.
  • Play & art therapy for children can help younger clients express what words can’t.
  • Mindfulness, attachment-building exercises, and concrete skill-building for emotion regulation and improved communication can also be helpful.

Sessions are trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and paced to match your readiness for change. I’ll provide gentle accountability, a bit of humor, and a safe space where every part of you is welcome.

What you can expect from me

Clients often leave sessions feeling heard, lighter, and equipped with at least one actionable tool they can use right away—whether that’s a grounding exercise, a new parenting strategy, or a reframed perspective on a painful memory. Over the course of our work, you can expect to:

  • Experience noticeable relief from anxiety, depression, or trauma triggers—sometimes rapidly, when we employ A.R.T./EMDR
  • Strengthen relationships through clearer communication and healthier boundaries
  • Build resilience and self-compassion so you feel more in control when life gets hard

Above all, you’ll find a non-judgmental, compassionate environment where your lived experience is honored and your goals drive the therapy. My role is to walk alongside you with clinical expertise, unwavering support, and belief in your ability to heal and thrive.
