Great to meet you!

Hello, I am Dr. Britt, founder of Tidal Mental Health & Consulting. I have both my Masters and Doctorate in Social Work, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). My therapy practice is rooted in a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment. I offer a warm, empathic space where people feel seen and heard. Wherever you are in your journey, I meet you there, and we will work together in supporting healing and discover new ways of coping.

You may be struggling to cope with anxiety, depression, grief, loss, past or current trauma, or adjusting to new life changes and challenges. For teens, the developmental period of adolescence brings about many new changes, including possible new mental health needs or challenges in inter-/intrapersonal relationships. Through creating a safe therapeutic environment, adolescents and I will work together to better understand emotions and identify challenges that may be interfering with day-to-day life while exploring healthy coping techniques. I use an eclectic approach grounded in clinical theory and practice based on your own unique needs and goals for therapy.

My approach to therapy

With over 26 years of experience working in a variety of settings with children, adolescents, families, and individuals, I am grounded to view each person as evolving individuals while providing empathy, compassion, and unconditional positive regard during the therapeutic process. My approach is trauma-centered and strength-based, and I value deep empathy for your experience and what brought you to seek out therapy at this moment in time.

What you can expect from me

Therapy with me is a space where you can show up as you are, and, together, we will create meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you. During our first session, I want to learn about what brought you to therapy in this moment, what your goals are in our work together, and to learn from you on where you would like to start in this journey together. We will take time to get to know not only the obstacles you are facing in life, but also your strengths, your story, and what healing may look like for you. You can expect a mix of open reflection, practical tools, and honest conversation, which will always be grounded in empathy and partnership in tackling whatever is standing in your way. I look forward to connecting!
