Great to meet you!

I am Brittany Brookshire, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor working remotely with clients in Illinois and Missouri. I graduated in 2017 with a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Georgia, and I have worked as a school counselor and in private practice.

Many of my clients are between ages 18-50, and I often work with people experiencing depression, anxiety, and adult ADHD. I love being a part of peoples’ journeys through life, and I feel passionately about helping those going through (or healing from) life transitions, religious trauma, abusive relationships, uncertainty in life, grief, stress within marriages, or those just working to love or learn about themselves.

My approach to therapy

I have an "eclectic" approach to counseling in which I pull from a number of different treatment styles and modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Adlerian Therapy. At the core of my therapeutic process is Person-Centered Therapy; which prioritizes rapport, trust, and acceptance. I find that this approach works well especially with clients with ADHD, who may struggle with being critical of themselves.

What you can expect from me

My goal in a first session is to determine needs, goals, and expectations. Often, people come to therapy uncertain of what help might look like, and I strive to meet people where they are at. The therapeutic process is a partnership, and I aim to create trust while also identifying goals and areas of support. I always remind new clients that it is important that they feel comfortable with me, and that no one should ever feel "stuck" with a therapist who doesn't feel like the right fit!
