Great to meet you!

I’m Caleb Evington, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing telehealth therapy to adults across North Carolina. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill after completing my undergraduate degree at Appalachian State University. My professional background includes trauma-focused care and psychosocial oncology, where I have supported individuals and couples through complex emotional, relational, and health-related transitions. I also co-founded a specialized relationship and sex therapy clinic within an academic cancer center and am completing advanced training toward certification through AASECT.

In private practice, I specialize in sex and relationship therapy, anxiety, trauma, identity, life transitions, and patterns that interfere with connection, pleasure, or emotional well-being. I provide LGBTQ+-affirming, sex-positive, kink-aware, and consensual nonmonogamy-affirming care. I often work with thoughtful, self-aware adults who understand a great deal intellectually but still feel stuck in patterns they cannot simply think their way out of.

My approach to therapy

My style is warm, curious, collaborative, and gently challenging. Therapy with me is not about judging your choices or forcing you into a predetermined definition of health. Instead, we slow down enough to understand how your history, relationships, nervous system, beliefs, and protective strategies shape what is happening in your life today.

My approach is insight-oriented and relational, drawing from attachment-based therapy, psychodynamic and narrative approaches, person-centered therapy, parts work, and somatic awareness. Depending on your goals, we may explore recurring relationship patterns, strengthen communication and boundaries, increase emotional and body awareness, reduce shame, and practice new ways of relating to yourself and others.

I value both depth and practicality: understanding why a pattern developed matters, and so does helping you make meaningful changes outside the therapy room.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I will invite you to share what brings you to therapy, what feels most important right now, and what you hope could be different. We will begin identifying the experiences, relationships, patterns, and strengths that may be relevant while moving at a pace that feels manageable.

You can expect a calm, affirming, and nonjudgmental environment, especially when discussing sexuality, identity, relationships, trauma, or experiences that may have been difficult to name elsewhere. I will explain how I work, answer your questions, and collaborate with you on an initial direction for therapy.

You do not need to arrive with the perfect words or a fully formed goal. Part of the first session is helping us understand the problem together and determining whether working with one another feels like a good fit.
