Great to meet you!

Hi there! I became a counselor in 2009 when I graduated from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I am a Licensed Clinical Practicing Couselor in the state of Maryland, since 2015. I love being a counselor and typically work with individuals who feel disconnected from themselves and others. I love to help guide clients back to their center so that they feel like themselves again. After this is achieved, a person has made significant progress in healing themselves.

Outside of the counseling room, I’m a husband and father who loves being outdoors, exploring new places, and sharing good food and drinking coffee. I’m also a longtime meditator, which deeply influences how I approach this work—with calm, curiosity and respect for the inward journey.

My approach to therapy

Clients describe my style as grounded, compassionate, and collaborative. I work to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions to gain clarity and peace of mind. My approach is typically a balance of insight oriented and solution focused, which means clients gain clarity and insight into old patterns and behaviors and then work on a practical level to solve identified issues. At a basic level this includes soothing the nervous system and meditation/mindfulness for those interested. I've developed this approach over the last 11 years in my work as a masters level clinician.

What you can expect from me

It can feel hard to walk into a new situation for the first time, let alone a first counseling appointment! However, just know that I am here to make it easy for you to start the process and get comfortable with this new situation. The hardest part is "walking in the door." If you have been to counseling previously then I am always interested in what worked or didn't work in your last experience!

In our first session I will request information that will help me assess the best ways to support you. There is typically time to begin addressing the presenting concerns.
