Great to meet you!

Are you or your child feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or stuck? Family life — especially when it includes conflict, separation, or a strained relationship — can leave everyone involved exhausted and unsure where to turn.

I'm Cara Coro, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in Minnesota. Before I became a therapist, I spent more than 25 years as an elementary educator. That foundation shapes everything I do: I understand how what happens at home reaches into the classroom, friendships, and the quiet moments — and how much kids absorb even when the adults around them are doing their best to protect them.

I work with individuals, parents, and families navigating the emotional weight of family conflict, divorce and separation, co-parenting stress, and strained parent-child relationships. Many of the people I work with come in feeling stretched thin, caught between competing demands, or worried about how their children are handling what the family is going through.

My approach to therapy

You don't have to have everything figured out to be here. My approach is warm, steady, and practical — grounded in clinical social work, child development, attachment, and trauma-responsive care. I'll meet you where you are, without judgment, and help you make sense of what's happening and what to do next.

Together, we'll look at patterns — what's working, what's feeling stuck, and what small, realistic shifts could start to change things. Because I've worked extensively with families in high-conflict and court-involved situations, I'm also comfortable holding space for the complicated stuff: co-parenting struggles, estrangement, strained relationships with adult children or aging parents, and the kind of family grief that doesn't always have a name.

What you can expect from me

Most people don't come to therapy because everything is going well — and that's okay. Our first session is about getting to know you and what's bringing you in. We'll talk about what's been hardest recently, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping will feel different.

From there, we'll identify a few initial goals — maybe that's calming the noise around a co-parenting situation, rebuilding a relationship with a child or parent, or finding your footing through a big transition. You won't leave the first session with everything figured out, but you should leave with a clearer sense of the path forward and whether it feels like a fit to keep working together.

I'll also share how I work with schedules, collaboration with other professionals when it's helpful, and what steady, ongoing therapy can look like.
