Hi, I'm Carl Cogdell and I am a licensed clinical social worker who lives in the Wilmington, NC area. I married my high school sweetheart in 1994 and we have one adult son. I earned my Masters in Social Work in 2013 from East Carolina University. For self-care, I enjoy cooking, smoking/grilling and fishing. I'm also a fan of high school and college football. People typically describe me as being quiet or reserved, but also trusting, inquisitive and intuitive.
Hello, my name is Carl and I'm a licensed clinical social worker who has been assisting my clients achieve their goals, process past traumas, reconnect with their partners and themselves, find balance, find forgiveness of others and most importantly themselves to get back on the path of living the life they hope to have. I strongly feel that successful therapy is achieved primarily through the therapeutic relationship and this relationship is forged through trust and open honest communication. I consider myself as being a therapist who also approaches therapy from the psychodynamic and attachment perspectives and I also utilize CBT, IFS and mindfulness practices to help my clients connect with their past and current selves with the hope of finding peace, contentment, understanding, resilience, hope and happiness.
My goal is to assist my clients with gaining a better understanding of themselves, their situation, learning effective coping strategies and having a safe place to vent, if needed, and share their story without the fear of judgment
