Great to meet you!

Hey to you! My name is Carnesha Ben, and I've been practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor for nine years. I've worked with clients from all walks of life, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, mothers, college students, and adults 65+. I have a B.S. in Psychology and an M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling and am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision.

My approach to therapy

I really enjoy the opportunity to walk the journey alongside you because counseling can be difficult for some. I prioritize meeting you where you are and offer sound guidance when it is necessary. Think of it as if we were going on a road trip; you're the driver, and I'm the passenger. The destination is wherever you want to go, but if you need directions, I'm here to support you. I tend to work from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach, but I tend to lead with Person-Centered and other approaches that align with your needs. Counseling is a partnership, so I aim to be the best teammate possible.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, you can expect the working alliance to begin to build as I ask questions to get to know your story. Also, we discuss presenting barriers that affect your quality of life, any past counseling experience, and the ideal goals you would like to achieve. No worries if you do not know; clients tend to figure it out in the upcoming sessions. The expectations I have are to show up and be prepared to work :) Always remember you're not alone.
