Great to meet you!

I am a senior PhD board certified psychologist, licensed in VA and NC. My experience as a therapist and human performance consultant spans fifty years and includes both civilian and elite military populations. I am happily married and have children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, pets and hobbies.

My approach to therapy

I use a wide range of approaches to helping clients depending on their needs but believe cognitive-behavioral theory is a very practical and useful starting model. We humans are quite complex and multi-faceted. We have Four Foundational Pillars, or internal resource areas, that are required for healthy balanced functioning. They are the Mental, Physical, Emotional and Spiritual aspects of balanced health. Almost every human problem involves an imbalance or deficit in one or more of these Pillars.

What you can expect from me

Our first sessions will focus on understanding your background and situation as well as your expectations and goals. Early in our process I will explain the impact of the Four Foundational Pillars in human problems and how we can work together on the skills you can develop that will help you achieve your goals.
