Great to meet you!

Chelsea is licensed as a clinical social worker in the state of Maryland. She is a Chestertown native who returned to the area in 2016. She worked as a therapist in the local community with Chester River Behavioral Health until opening her own practice in 2020.

Prior to 2016, Chelsea was a practicing therapist in the Salisbury area with Three Lower Counties Community Services. Chelsea completed her Master's Degree in Social Work at Salisbury University in 2013. While working toward her Master's Degree, she worked for the Worcester County Health Department in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program, a community based service for children and adults who need skills building and support outside of the therapy setting, and interned with Alternative Directions, an evidence-based program designed to provide full evaluations for court referred youth to determine their needs in order to reduce recidivism.

My approach to therapy

Chelsea has received intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a treatment program designed for individuals who experience extreme emotions, have difficulty in interpersonal relationships, and engage in impulsive behaviors.

In 2020, Chelsea completed a certification training in Perinatal Mental Health. This certification specializes in treatment of women and families from the time they begin planning a family, or those not planning, through 2 years postpartum. Chelsea offers supportive therapy throughout the perinatal period including: infertility, miscarriage, infant loss, birth trauma, navigating pregnancy after loss, prenatal/postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, and adjustment to new parenthood.

What you can expect from me

As a therapist, I work with my clients to help them find their own balance. I approach each person as an individual with individual needs and goals. While I often use DBT informed treatment, I recognize that no one theory or therapy will solve the problems of every client. I aim to assist the individuals I work with to feel confident and capable when facing life's challenges.
