Great to meet you!

Christen Rinaldi, a licensed mental health counselor and Disaster Mental Health specialist, has spent her career walking alongside individuals and families through loss, trauma, and the disorientation that follows crisis. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed, grief-literate care — meeting people exactly where they are, without a timeline or a script for how healing should look. She believes grief deserves to be witnessed, not managed, and she brings that same steadiness to every person she supports.

My approach to therapy

I believe healing happens when you stop performing and start listening — and then respond to what is discovered.

To your body, your nervous system, your own inner signals — the ones you've been trained since childhood to ignore or override.

And I believe every person who comes into relationship with me is there for a reason — as mutual teachers and space holders in something genuinely connective.

I am not the expert dispensing wisdom from behind a professional mask. I embrace what is real, gritty, and deliciously surprising about being human.

The relationship itself is where the growth happens. You change me, too. That's not an accident — that's the whole point.

What you can expect from me

I have discovered...

There is no "right answer."

Boundaries are far more complicated than any book, video, or reel makes them sound.

Sometimes it is a matter of choosing between two things that suck.

Self-neglect is not hot — and I will name it every time I see it.

Every single human experience is paradoxical. It all gets to exist at the same time, and none of it is wrong.

The statement "If my partner/friend/mother/child would just..." is often an invitation to look at yourself.

Our culture works tirelessly in new and creative ways to undermine your self-worth — radical self-acceptance is resistance.

Good things happening in our lives can be just as disorienting and dysregulating as hard things. Increasing our capacity to receive is just as important as increasing our capacity to survive.

The other shoe will drop... and you will be okay. So stop waiting for it — it doesn't do a damn thing other than steal your present moment joy.

Self-compassion is an hourly practice. It is okay if you don’t get it quite right- that’s the practice!
