Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Christie Simon-Waterman, a dually certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over a decade of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based, and holistic care across the lifespan. My clinical background spans primary care, mental health, and community-based health, allowing me to care for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

I earned my nursing education at Coppin State University and completed my doctoral training with a strong focus on health equity, leadership, and integrated care delivery.

In my practice, I specialize in:

  • Anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, and mood disorders
  • Integrated mental health treatment
  • Substance use–related concerns and recovery support
  • Care for underserved and marginalized populations

My approach is empathetic, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I believe healing happens best when clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Together, we develop personalized treatment plans that may include therapy, medication management when appropriate, lifestyle interventions, and ongoing support tailored to your goals.

Above all, I am committed to creating a safe, supportive responsive space where clients can build resilience, restore balance, and move forward with confidence and clarity.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is holistic, compassionate, and collaborative. I work alongside clients as partners in their healing journey, recognizing that mental, physical, emotional, and social factors are deeply connected. From our first session, my priority is to create a safe, non-judgmental, and culturally responsive space where you feel heard, respected, and supported.

I use an integrated care model, drawing on my training to address concerns across the lifespan. Care may include therapy, medication management when appropriate, lifestyle and wellness strategies, and care coordination, always guided by evidence-based practice and your individual goals.

My style is calm, grounded, and trauma-informed. I take time to understand your story, strengths, and challenges, and I tailor treatment plans rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I emphasize shared decision-making, empowering you with education and options so you can make informed choices about your care.

My goal is not only symptom relief, but long-term resilience, balance, and improved quality of life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a time for us to get to know one another and to begin building a foundation of trust. My goal is to create a safe, calm, and non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns at your own pace.

During this session, we will talk about what brought you to care, your current challenges, strengths, and goals, as well as relevant medical, mental health, and life history. I take a whole-person approach, so we may also discuss lifestyle factors, stressors, support systems, and overall wellness. You are always encouraged to ask questions, and nothing is rushed.

Together, we will:

  • Identify initial goals for care
  • Discuss potential treatment options, which may include therapy, medication management when appropriate, lifestyle strategies, or referrals
  • Develop a collaborative plan that feels realistic, respectful, and aligned with your values.

Clients often leave the first session feeling heard, supported.
