Great to meet you!

Hey! I'm Christina, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker with 7 years experience providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy on an outpatient basis. I am thoroughly trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), two off-shoots of CBT that incorporate acceptance and mindfulness. I currently serve as the chapter president for Mid-Atlantic Chapter of The Association for Contextual Behavioral Sciences, and I am a contributing author to an upcoming manual on a developing integrative therapy, Contextually-focused DBT. Basically, I'm a therapy nerd. I love and believe in my practice, and am always on the hunt to learn more and be the best therapist I can be.

My approach to therapy

My thorough training in contextual behavioral therapies means that I am able to discriminate between when it is effective to teach you an evidence-based skill, with knowing when to help you learn how to sit with something painful. I am relational and will observe what is happening in the room between us to help you raise your consciousness of yourself and your thoughts/feelings on a moment-to-moment basis. This will help you become more mindful and accepting of yourself, so that you can make meaningful and lasting changes in your life. It also means that my sessions are immediate, engaging, and connected.

What you can expect from me

In a first session, we'll accomplish three things:

  1. You'll share with me your concerns that are bringing you to therapy. We'll explore what is currently keeping you stuck or causing you suffering.
  2. I'll tell you more about my practice and give you a sense of how I might approach some of your concerns.
  3. We'll talk about whether we think what I have to offer is a good fit for you and what you're seeking help with. If we're not a good fit, I can provide you with some direction towards a provider or style that will work better for you.
