Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s Degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. I have spent the last fifteen years working with youth and families in a variety of settings, including the child welfare system, non-profit organizations, and the school system as a teacher, sport’s coach, and social worker. I have always been drawn to youth’s social-emotional needs and have therapeutic experience in the areas of grief, trauma, anxiety, crisis intervention, and stress management.

My approach to therapy

I attempt to weave together the best techniques from my formal, professional studies, as well as what I have gleaned from my personal experiences of raising four children, to provide therapy in a way that is relatable and relevant to each youth and their situation. In addition to utilizing a blend of some of the best "evidenced-based" practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Solution-Focused therapy, I can also provide faith-based Christian counseling when requested.

What you can expect from me

In the midst of the multitude of emotions we might experience, such as grief, stress, anxiety, and depression, many times we simply need a place to be heard and somebody to be present with us on our journey as we process our experiences. My counselor's listening ear was therapeutic to me following the loss of my infant daughter, Emery, in 2017. I founded Emery's Counseling out of my desire to provide the same, safe space to others to express and process their thoughts and emotions.
