Great to meet you!

I am a clinician grounded in both professional training and life experience who brings authenticity and deep compassion into the therapy space. I have experienced my own share of life’s complexities, and those experiences shape how I show up—with respect for individual paths, an appreciation for resilience, and a belief that people are doing the best they can with what they know at the time. I approach each client without judgment and with genuine curiosity about who they are and who they are becoming.

Outside of my professional role, I value independence, connection, and time in the natural world. I also have some fluency in American Sign Language; while my skills are currently rusty, I am comfortable using basic ASL and remain mindful of accessibility needs. I have ridden motorcycles for more than 35 years, enjoy camping, and care deeply about animals. These interests reflect values that often resonate with my clients: freedom, self-trust, adaptability, and a willingness to keep moving forward even when the road has not been smooth.

In session, my presence is typically calm, steady, and attentive. As clients gain insight and begin to recognize their own strengths and capacity for change, I naturally become more animated and engaged. I am energized by growth and by witnessing people reclaim confidence, agency, and direction in their lives.

I have a deep appreciation for the small, meaningful moments that sustain us, as well as a clear understanding of how heavy and discouraging life’s challenges can feel. Above all, I value creating space for people to define themselves, make intentional choices, create and grow into the lives they want. Therapy with me supports autonomy, self-awareness, and personal growth—at a pace that feels both challenging and respectful.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy as a collaborative, respectful partnership grounded in acceptance, curiosity, and honesty. I welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and belief systems, and I believe meaningful change begins when your values, experiences, and worldview are honored.

My work focuses on helping you identify and build upon your existing strengths. I bring more than 25 years of experience in the mental health field, which informs my clinical judgment, flexibility, and respect for the complexity of change. Together, we explore your beliefs, values, and internal resources to uncover solutions, recognize opportunities, and better understand the patterns shaping your life. I am not interested in telling you who to be; rather, I support you in becoming more fully yourself with greater clarity and intention.

As a visual thinker, I often use analogy, symbolism, and metaphor to help make complex thoughts and emotions more accessible. Throughout therapy, I offer validation, alternative perspectives, and thoughtful observations to support insight and growth.

My style is engaged and honest. I can be direct when it serves growth, while remaining grounded in compassion and understanding. I believe meaningful change requires both accountability and kindness—especially toward yourself—so that you can be forgiving enough to grow while challenging patterns that no longer serve you.

If you are looking for someone who will simply nod and agree with everything you say, I may not be the right fit. If you are open to being challenged, curious about reclaiming your power, and ready to feel more in control of your life and choices, I invite you to reach out.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my primary focus is on getting to know you as a whole person. I typically complete a thorough intake to understand who you are, what challenges and obstacles you are facing, and what strengths, values, and goals you bring into therapy. This initial conversation helps establish a foundation for meaningful and effective work together.

During this session, I also share where my professional strengths lie and may offer initial thoughts about therapeutic approaches or methodologies that could be effective based on what you share. I ask many questions—not to interrogate, but to better understand your experiences and to calibrate my approach to you as an individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model.

Transparency is important to me. I am honest if I feel that I may not be the best fit to support you effectively. When that is the case, I will do my best to offer thoughtful suggestions or referrals to other providers, approaches, or resources that may be better suited to your needs and circumstances. My goal is always to help you find the most appropriate and supportive path forward, whether that is with me or elsewhere.
