Great to meet you!

I hold an M.S. in clinical professional counseling from Loyola University Maryland and is currently a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC).

My clinical interests include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and other types of transitions (job change, aging, divorce, illness, immigration, etc.).

Before becoming a therapist, I was a researcher, an educator, and a mentor for ~30 years. Due to these other experiences, I am sensitive to the challenges associated with higher education and working in the biomedical and high-tech fields.

n my spare time, I enjoy my multicultural family and friends, as well as art, traveling, storytelling, cooking, and films.

My approach to therapy

I see therapy not just as a form of a treatment but also as a gift we give to ourselves. Through therapy, we explore our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and our relationship with others, including work and society. These explorations can be done alone but is more effective with a therapist, who can see patterns, themes, options, and solutions that we often overlook ourselves. I practice evidence-based therapeutic methods, such as CBT, that are person-centered and cultural sensitive. Your relationship with me is a safe space to explore, to understand, to connect, and ultimately, to heal. Together, we will develop healthy relationships with ourselves and with others.

What you can expect from me

During the first session (intake), I aim to get to know my clients holistically, noting any particular challenges in their family-, medical-, educational- and relational-history that should be explored in depth in later sessions. I want my clients to experience what working with me would be like. My goal is that my clients end the first session feeling more hopeful, from being in a kind and non-judgmental space with a sympathetic listener, with new perspectives and at least one coping skill to practice until our second session.
