Great to meet you!

I graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Studies. I received a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Adelphi University in 2007. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina (14459), Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York (004501), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (22623), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (352705), and a National Certified Counselor (271825).

With 15+ years in mental health counseling, I specialize in helping individuals navigate trauma, substance use, and co-occurring challenges. I spent over a decade in trauma-informed dual diagnosis young adult treatment programs, ran a private practice in New York focused on teens and young adults, and most recently supported families navigating a loved one's mental health or substance use as a crisis intervention consultant. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in real-world experience with complex cases.

My approach to therapy

Counseling Services & Therapeutic Approach

I provide individual therapy for young adults and adults navigating trauma, substance use and addiction, depression, anxiety, executive functioning challenges, mood dysregulation, and relationship conflict.

Therapy is collaborative. We’ll identify clear goals together, and those goals help determine the length and focus of our work. My role is to support you in building practical skills and insight so you can make meaningful, lasting change.

How I Work

My approach is tailored to your needs. I draw from several evidence-based modalities, including:

• Attachment-based Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

• Family systems theory

• Solution-Focused Therapy

• Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

• Motivational Interviewing

• Positive Psychology

• Psychodynamic Therapy

Woven through all of these approaches is a focus on your strengths and how different parts of your mind and personality interact to shape emotions, motivation, and behavior. In session, we work on improving coping skills, stress management, and communication. I also provide psychoeducational tools and resources to support your progress between sessions.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about starting to build a connection. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what feels most important to you right now, and any questions or concerns you have about therapy.

I know it takes time to feel safe with someone new, so there's no expectation to share everything at once. We'll go at your pace. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of how our work together can support you.
