Great to meet you!

Welcome! I'm Courtney. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor going on 10 years. I have a Masters of Science in Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. For the past seven years I have been working with college student at Oklahoma State University. Prior to that I spent time running a private practice and working community mental health.

I have a wide range of experience, but I really enjoy working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Trauma can look different to everyone, but I consider trauma anything that has happened to you that left you feeling unable to cope or manage life the way you once did.

I also love working with the neurodivergent population. I especially enjoy helping people navigate symptoms of ADHD and Autism. I am a safe space for all identities, including LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC. My experience includes, but is not limited to, working with those who have OCD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and attachment/relational issues.

In the time I spent working at the college, I discovered a love for helping individuals navigate identity development in general. From transitioning from high school to college life, navigating married life, having children, aging parents, as well as grief, helping people through life is such an honor and I truly enjoy being a part of that journey.

It would be an honor to a be a part of your journey. If you need someone to help be a guiding light, or hold the burdens of life, please reach out.

My approach to therapy

I see the individual as an expert on themselves and meet them where there are at. I am here to help navigate and guide people in life. When working with individuals, I consider this a journey we are on together.

To do this I enjoy building strong therapeutic relationships with my client's. I get to know the individual and I tailor a therapeutic approach that works best for that person. This includes use of different trauma informed therapy approaches such as Cogitative Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Processing. I typically utilize teachings from these approaches and others to inform my treatment approach. I will use many tools from various approaches to help provide an individualized treatment approach.

What you can expect from me

During the first session you can expect that I will go over informed consent, confidentiality, fees, cancellation policy, and what to do in the event of a mental health emergency. Once we check those boxes I will collect information about you and what is bringing you into therapy. I will also collect information about what goals you would like to have while working together.

Once the introductory work is done we will schedule a day and time for your next session, typically one week out. The first session may look a little different than following sessions, as the first session is for data collection and getting to know more about you. Followings sessions will be spent building the therapeutic relationship, processing the issues brining you in, as well as working towards therapeutic goals.
