In the 27 years as a practicing clinical social worker, I feel that the collaborative process between client and therapist is vital for successful therapeutic outcomes. I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I feel while it is important to understand and process the root of what brings someone to therapy whether it is mood instability, trauma, familial relationship conflicts, or low self-esteem, that it is equally as important to provide a "toolbox" of coping strategies to better manage distorted thinking patterns and painful emotions.
