Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Cristina, a bilingual therapist (English/Spanish) with over 15 years of experience supporting children, families, and adults through life’s challenges. I hold a Ph.D. in Gender Studies and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, and I’m licensed as an independent clinical social worker in Minnesota. I bring both professional expertise and personal warmth to help clients feel safe, respected, and understood.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, strengths-based, and person-centered. I strive to create a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood while also helping them identify patterns, clarify their needs, and make meaningful changes. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, mindfulness, and trauma-informed practices, adapting treatment to each person’s experiences, values, culture, and goals. My style is warm, reflective, and practical, with an emphasis on building self-awareness, emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and greater confidence in navigating life’s challenges.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, collaborative conversation focused on understanding what brought them to therapy, what they are currently experiencing, and what they hope will change. I will ask questions about relevant history, current stressors, strengths, relationships, and coping strategies, while allowing clients to share at a pace that feels comfortable. We will also begin identifying treatment goals and discuss what approach may be most helpful. My priority is for clients to leave the session feeling heard, respected, and clear about the next steps.
