Great to meet you!

Most of the people I work with look like they're managing. They show up. They get things done. Nobody around them would guess how tired they are. But underneath, there's an exhaustion that sleep doesn't touch, a shorter fuse than they want to have, and a sense of being behind even when they're sitting still.

If that sounds familiar, you're not failing at coping. Your body has been working overtime to keep you safe, and it hasn't gotten the message that it can stop.

I'm a licensed professional counselor with more than 20 years of clinical experience. I work with adults on trauma, anxiety, and burnout — including people carrying old experiences that still shape how they react today, and people who are simply running on empty and don't know how to get out from under it.

I'm EMDR-trained, which means we can work with difficult memories without you having to narrate every detail out loud. I also work with how stress lives in the body, so you learn what settling actually feels like instead of just talking about it.

Sessions are direct and warm. I don't use jargon, and I won't hand you a worksheet and call it a plan. We'll figure out what's driving the pattern and work on it together.

You are not broken. Your nervous system has been trying to protect you.

My approach to therapy

We start by looking at what your symptoms are. Anxiety, shutting down, snapping at people you love, staying busy so you don't have to feel anything — these usually aren't random. They're strategies your system built at some point because they worked. Understanding that changes the question from "what's wrong with me" to "what has my body been protecting me from."

From there, the work usually moves in two directions.

We build capacity first. That means learning what it feels like to settle — not as a breathing exercise you're told to do, but as something your body can actually find. Most people have been running so long that they don't have a reference point for calm. We create one before we go anywhere difficult.

Then we address what's underneath. I'm EMDR-trained, which lets us work with painful memories without you having to describe every detail. Many people find it reaches things that talking alone hasn't touched. We go at your pace, and nothing happens before you're ready for it.

What you can expect from me

Mostly, the first session is a conversation. You don't have to prepare anything or arrive with your history organized.

I'll ask what brought you in now — not just what's been hard, but why this month rather than last year. That usually tells us where to start.

I also want to know who you are outside of what's not working. What you're good at. What lights you up when you're at your best. Who's in your corner. We'll spend real time there, including a look at your existing strengths — the things that have carried you this far, even if they feel unavailable right now. Those aren't small talk. They're what we build the work on.

Ensuring you feel safe in session is the thing I prioritize above all else. It isn't a matter of comfort — it's clinical. A nervous system that's still bracing can't do the work of healing. Building a space where you're not performing and not managing me is what makes everything after possible.
