Great to meet you!

I’m D’Erica Blackmon, a clinical social worker who helps adolescents and adults navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky and am pursuing a Doctor of Behavioral Health at Arizona State University. My background includes education, medical social work, and mental health care.

I have a special interest in supporting women of color and people who feel overwhelmed by caregiving, work, or the pressure to hold everything together. I offer a welcoming space where you can feel heard, explore your needs, and work toward meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, and direct. I take time to understand your experiences, strengths, culture, and goals, then tailor our work to what matters most to you. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy skills to help you understand patterns, manage difficult emotions, and develop practical coping strategies.

Together, we may work on setting boundaries, improving communication, processing painful experiences, and building trust in yourself. I balance compassion with accountability while respecting your pace and your right to make decisions about your life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and discuss what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask about your current concerns, relevant history, support system, and what you hope will change. We’ll also review confidentiality, discuss how therapy works, and make space for your questions.

You don’t need to have everything figured out or share more than you feel ready to discuss. Together, we’ll identify initial goals and begin creating a plan that fits your needs. My aim is for you to leave feeling heard and clearer about our next steps.
