Great to meet you!

Talofa lava and Aloha! If you (or a loved one) have been contemplating therapy for a while and just unsure about how to start or who to see, I welcome any questions you might have to help with this process. My work focuses on teens (15+) and adults navigating trauma (singular event or multiple events across time), anxiety-related disorders, life-transition, relationship challenges, depression, and/or performance related concerns.

These often create other problems like poor sleep and exacerbate existing health-related concerns which I can also help with. However, your issues don’t have to be as serious in order for you to benefit from our work together. You could just have unresolved distress that are now affecting how you interact with yourself and others in ways you don’t like or want. Or you could be a person who normally resolves things on their own but are just stuck and need a little help and insight to get over the hill to a resolution. Whatever your need is, help is available.

My approach to therapy

As each of us experience similar challenges differently, my approach to therapy is through a multi-cultural lens. One that seeks to understand how you view yourself, others, and the world from your own unique perspective. This is incorporated within Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) that I primarily use within the broader scope of the biopsychosocial model. These modalities encompass the interactive elements of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical experiences in a way that can be applied within various personal and social contexts.

What you can expect from me

The first session is all about you, who you are, where you've been, and what goals you have for the future. Once I have an understanding of the challenges you're experiencing and where you want to be, I'll share with you what I believe would best address those challenges and together we decide how we move you along in the healing process.

My hope for you is to not only experience relief from symptoms, but also develop the insights and skills you need to manage your challenges on your own outside of therapy. Questions are welcomed throughout the entire process. Part of my job is to help you be informed about my approach to treatment and become aware of the resources available to you so you feel empowered to make the right decision for what you need. I look forward to hearing from you. Aloha!
