Great to meet you!

I’m Darla , founder of Sound Mind Health. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in nursing. My approach is rooted in partnership and clinical excellence.

My background has provided me with me a well-rounded perspective on how physical and mental health connect.

At Sound Mind Health, I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and medication management. My approach is collaborative—I take time to explain conditions and treatment options clearly, so you leave each session with confidence and a plan that makes sense for you.

I specialize in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, stress-related challenges, mood and psychotic disorders . I also work closely with children, teens and adults navigating school, work, and life transitions. My style is supportive yet practical: I listen deeply, ask the right questions, and offer both medical treatment and everyday strategies you can use right away.

What drives my work is simple: helping people move from surviving to thriving. At Sound Mind Health, you can expect a safe, professional, and encouraging environment where your goals are at the center of your care.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and clear. I believe the best care happens when you feel heard, respected, and fully involved in your treatment. In sessions, I take time to understand not just your symptoms but also your story, values, and goals. Together, we’ll create a treatment plan that honors your voice, supports your vision, and includes not only medication but also the lifestyle and environmental strategies proven to support mental wellness. Research continues to show that integrated care—addressing sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships, and purpose—improves mental health outcomes. I’m here to make sure those pieces are part of your healing journey.

What you can expect from me

At Sound Mind Health, sessions are more than check-ins—they’re a partnership for change. I combine compassionate listening with evidence-based psychiatry to help you understand your symptoms, find the right treatment, and build lasting tools for wellness.

What clients take away:

  • A clear understanding of your diagnosis and treatment options, explained in plain language
  • Personalized medication management and coping strategies designed for your life and culture
  • Skills to manage stress, regulate emotions, and break free from unhelpful patterns
  • Support that includes not just you, but your family when needed

My sessions are safe, judgment-free, and focused on helping you move forward with confidence. You’ll leave with practical steps and renewed hope—not just a prescription.

The goal: to help you feel better, think clearer, and live stronger.
