Great to meet you!

Life satisfaction is mostly about relationship, don't you agree? I help people have emotionally open and compassionate relationships both with themselves and with others. I work with individuals and couples on this.

Individually, so much of life satisfaction and personal effectiveness is based on how well you understand yourself (mindfulness), how you treat yourself (compassion), and how you advocate for your desires. With others, relationships are built through mutually respectful listening and co-creating mutually delightful interactions. I see relationship as a spiritual path.

I've been doing therapy for more than 35 years. My 43 year old marriage is juicy and delightful. I train therapists and life coaches. In short, I know what I'm doing. It's very likely that I can help you create a more satisfying life for yourself or in your relationship. And that in the process, you will feel unusually well listened to and respected.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Based on a foundation of feeling respected and understood, we'll choose the tools and approaches that will help you feel better fast while building your self-understanding, self-compassion and communication skills. Over the my 35 years of experience, I have studied most approaches to psychotherapy, so we can choose from a big tool kit. I find that approaches from Energy Psychology, NLP, and Hakomi, grounded in the body, can help most people make more rapid changes than traditional talk therapy.

What you can expect from our first session

Expect the lasting personal growth you seek to require persistent, deliberate effort from you. Often I will ask you to do homework or journaling between sessions. I offer you realistic hope based on emotional relief during the session and a sensible plan for achieving your goals, but I can't do your work for you.

Insight and deeper self-understanding is very useful, but changing requires actually changing habits - and this takes persistent repetition.
