Dee has extensive experience working in a variety of roles, including psychotherapist, program director, clinical supervisor, adjunct professor, and consultant. She also provides LCSW clinical supervision. Her practice includes working with individuals, families, couples, and groups.

She specializes in a wide range of areas, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress management, addictions, grief and loss, workplace and employment issues, women’s issues, diversity and cultural concerns, spirituality, and court-related assessments and recommendations, as well as foster care and adoption-related services.

Dee believes in meeting each client where they are and tailoring treatment to their unique needs. She is committed to creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment that fosters trust, healing, growth, and a strong therapeutic alliance.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client-centered, collaborative, and grounded in meeting each individual where they are. I believe that every person’s experiences are unique, and treatment should be tailored to reflect their specific needs, strengths, and goals. I prioritize creating a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel supported in exploring their thoughts, emotions, and life circumstances.

I draw from a range of evidence-based and integrative approaches, adapting my methods based on what will best support the client. My work incorporates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing, along with a holistic perspective that considers emotional, social, cultural, and, when relevant, spiritual factors.

With over 25 years of experience across various roles in behavioral health, I work with individuals, families, couples, and groups, addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, grief and loss, stress management, workplace challenges, women’s issues, diversity and cultural concerns, and court-related evaluations. I also have experience supporting clients involved in foster care and adoption systems.

Overall, my goal is to build a strong therapeutic alliance that fosters trust, insight, growth, and meaningful, sustainable change.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where they are encouraged to share their concerns at their own pace. The initial session is primarily focused on building rapport, understanding what brings the client to therapy, and beginning to identify their goals.

I will gather relevant background information, explore current challenges, and discuss any previous experiences with therapy if applicable. This helps me gain a comprehensive understanding of the client’s needs, strengths, and priorities. Together, we will begin to outline initial treatment goals and discuss a general direction for our work moving forward.

Clients are also encouraged to ask questions and share what they are looking for in therapy to ensure a good therapeutic fit. By the end of the first session, clients can expect to have a clearer sense of the therapeutic process, along with a collaborative starting point for addressing their concerns in a supportive and structured way.
