Great to meet you!

Using a caring, collaborative approach, and years of experience, I work with adults and seniors to address mental health challenges and increase life satisfaction. I help clients connect with their feelings, thoughts, and parts, uncover and transform limiting beliefs, burdens, and behaviors, process life challenges, rediscover inner strengths and wisdom, develop effective coping skills and resources, heal emotional wounds, and move toward personal and therapy goals. I help clients navigate life transitions, relationship issues, health conditions, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, meaning and purpose inquiries, and self-esteem/confidence issues. In addition, I provide seniors support with issues of aging, later life transitions, caregiver issues, long-term planning, and assistance with resources.

As a licensed therapist, I focus on the unique needs of each client and use effective treatment methods as indicated, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic methods, Compassionate Communication, Strengths-Based, and Solution-Focused Therapies.

I have been providing counseling and support services for adults and seniors since 2008. I obtained my MSW degree with honors from California State University- Long Beach in 2010, and then worked as an Associate Clinical Social Worker with clients, families/caregivers, and care teams in settings including a psychiatric clinic and health care/dialysis clinics. I obtained my LCSW in California in 2019 and my LCSW-C in Maryland in 2020 while working in health clinics. Since then, I have been providing licensed therapeutic counseling to adults and seniors in-person and via telehealth.

My approach to therapy

I use a client-centered collaborative approach to therapy, where we work together to identify your chief concerns and focus areas for therapy, come up with a treatment plan together with your goals, objectives, and treatment methods that will best meet your goals, and work together over time to help you address challenges, heal trauma/issues, and improve your quality of life! I use empathy and caring, reflective listening, and targeted interventions like CBT and IFS to help you address deep issues and patterns, and help you transform your life.

What you can expect from me

During our initial session together, you can expect that I will create a safe space and listen fully to your main challenges and concerns. I will ask what you are looking for in therapy and with your therapist; tell you about who I am and what services I provide; talk with you about consent for treatment, privacy policy, confidentiality and teletherapy parameters; and take a full client history and mental health assessment. Then we will see if we are a good fit, and if so, we will create a treatment plan and schedule weekly therapy sessions for an indicated amount of time agreed upon, and go over the cancellation policies.
