Great to meet you!

I’m Don Coleman, MSW, LICSW, an African American therapist and Minnesota Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of mental and behavioral health experience. I provide therapy for adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, stress, grief, addiction and recovery, relationship issues, life transitions, low self-esteem, and emotional exhaustion.

My approach is compassionate, evidence-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed. I help clients understand and change unhealthy thoughts, emotional patterns, and behaviors while building coping skills, emotional resilience, confidence, and healthier relationships. Together, we work toward lasting change so you can move beyond survival mode and experience greater clarity, emotional wellness, peace, purpose, and fulfillment.

My approach to therapy

My therapy style is compassionate, collaborative, culturally responsive, and focused on lasting change. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, stress, grief, addiction and recovery, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, life transitions, and emotional exhaustion.

Using evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy, I help clients identify unhealthy thought, emotional, and behavioral patterns, understand what keeps them stuck, and develop practical coping skills for everyday life. Our work focuses on building emotional resilience, improving relationships, strengthening confidence, and creating healthier responses to stress and difficult emotions.

I believe healing begins with awareness. Together, we turn insight into action so you can move beyond survival mode and live with greater clarity, emotional wellness, peace, authenticity, and purpose. Moving from survival to living.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a supportive, judgment-free space where you can slow down, share what has been happening, and feel heard and understood. We’ll explore concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief, relationship challenges, addiction and recovery, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed or stuck.

Together, we’ll identify the patterns affecting your emotional wellness, relationships, and daily life and clarify what you want to change. We’ll begin developing personalized therapy goals focused on areas such as emotional resilience, coping skills, confidence, healthier relationships, and greater self-awareness. My goal is for you to leave your first session with greater clarity, hope, and a clear direction for moving from surviving toward healing, growth, and purposeful living.
