Great to meet you!

I have been a therapist for over 42 years working with families, individuals of all ages and couples. It is a calling in my life that allows me to share and not ever retire. I am very blessed to have my wife as my soul mate and best friend. We adopted our son and daughter who are siblings that needed to belong to a family who loves them as our own children. They both were very young when we adopted them and we are strong advocates of adoption and we are family. We have a grandson who is a true blessing in our life that allows you to be honored in being called Pop Pop. I love seeing growth and the positive changes my clients develop which can help them face challenges we face in this imperfect world. I completed my psychology degree in 1981 and my Masters Degree in Counseling from Liberty University in 1984. I received my License in Marriage and Family therapy in 2004. I am trained in Brain Spotting which is used with PTSD and all types of trauma. My clinical experiences have been a significant impact on my calling as a therapist. I worked over 15 years in the hospital emergency rooms in assessing patients for inpatient and outpatient treatment, trauma focus therapy for childhood physical and sexual abuse I have several years of experiences working in alcohol and drug treatment which also includes sexual addiction and porn addiction, ADD/ADHD in adolescent and adult population, childhood trauma, Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Eating Disorders, Anger Management , Codependency, Grief issues, Veterans/Military Families, Spiritual development such as Christian or religious faith, and AutismSpectrum.

My approach to therapy

I have a passion to treat family systems that includes building communication skills with couples and other family members to strengthen each person with their talents, love languages, affirmations, to build one another up, and each person to feel valued.

What you can expect from me

Acceptance, compassion, empowerment, faith and hope for healthier daily living skills, and develop healthy boundaries for their body, soul, and spirit. My clients learn that their past is not who they are but what they may have experienced which includes the release of shame. I also love to use humor at times because we all need to experience laughter which is very healing when we have experienced sorrow.
