Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with a professional background rooted in community mental health and private practice. I began my career in community mental health, where I worked extensively with individuals diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and gained broad experience serving individuals from diverse backgrounds with complex clinical needs. This foundation strengthened my clinical assessment skills, cultural awareness, and ability to work thoughtfully with a wide range of presenting concerns.

My clinical interests and additional training include trauma-informed care, and I am EMDR trained. I have specialized training and experience working with military service members, veterans, and military families, with a strong understanding of military culture and the unique stressors associated with service, reintegration, and family systems impacted by military life.

Another primary area of focus is perinatal mental health. I work with individuals and families navigating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, pregnancy- and postpartum-related concerns, traumatic or complicated births, pregnancy and infant loss, postpartum adjustment, baby blues, and postpartum psychosis. I also support parents processing grief, identity shifts, and the emotional impact of parenting under difficult or unexpected circumstances.

I work with grief and bereavement, including traumatic bereavement, sudden loss, and loss that significantly alters an individual’s sense of safety, identity, or future.

I work with adults and couples who are seeking clarity, emotional stability, and healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. My work is informed by both clinical expertise and an understanding that people’s stories, experiences, and systems matter. When requested, I also integrate a Christian-informed perspective that respects clients’ values while remaining clinically sound.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, intentional, and individualized. I work to understand each client’s unique experiences, patterns, goals, and purpose so therapy can be aligned in a way that is meaningful and clinically appropriate.

My work is grounded in evidence-based practice and informed by a holistic perspective that considers the whole person. I draw from several therapeutic approaches, including, but not limited to, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, interpersonal and family systems approaches, Internal Family Systems–informed work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care.

I place strong emphasis on emotional intelligence, self-insight, internal dialogue, and values, helping clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and lived experiences influence behavior, relationships, and overall functioning.

I am well versed in multiple therapeutic models and use them thoughtfully and flexibly. Together, we determine which approaches are most appropriate based on ongoing assessment, feedback, and your therapeutic goals, ensuring that therapy remains responsive, effective, and meaningful.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a structured clinical interview focused on information gathering and understanding your concerns, history, and goals. This session is not a processing or intervention-based appointment. Instead, it is the foundation-building phase of therapy.

During this session, I ask questions and gather information to begin forming a clear clinical picture. I am assessing patterns, strengths, stressors, trauma exposure, and relational dynamics, as well as noticing themes that may be implied but not yet fully articulated. This helps guide thoughtful treatment planning moving forward.

You will also have time to ask questions about the therapy process, my background, and what working together may look like. It is common to have reservations about therapy or concerns about vulnerability, and those conversations are welcome. We may also discuss realistic expectations for therapy and how progress typically develops through collaboration, trust, and consistency over time.
