Great to meet you!

For much of my life, I have been captivated by the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., so much so that this personal interest has expanded into a professional interest and informs my research, clinical work, and teaching. Intimately tied to my interest in Dr. King is my interest in attachment theory as well as the role of religion, spirituality, and moral injury in mental health treatment.

I earned my BA in psychology from the University of Kentucky and my PhD from Howard University.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My interest and research related to Dr. King informs my clinical work in that I sees much value in including his philosophy of nonviolence in the conversation about mental health treatment. I am an integrative therapist, primarily drawing from interpersonal, relational/psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral therapies. I work only with adult clients.

What you can expect from our first session

I work with clients from the perspective of adult attachment research. Engaging treatment from an attachment theory perspective has enabled her to see that flexibility is critical and it’s important to meet clients where they are to help achieve healing. I understand the therapeutic experience to be a collaborative and co-constructed experience that must be continually evaluated.
