My name is Dr. Dorothy Akakem; I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) licensed in the State of Maryland and District of Columbia with several years of experience working with individuals with mental health issues . I have strong clinical skills in Patient Assessment, Diagnoses, Medication Management and Disease Prevention.
I use evidenced-based guidelines and solution-oriented method to care for my patients holistically. I am a warm practitioner who is committed in the use of good communication skill with a friendly atmosphere to focus on the needs of patients. I focus on using the best treatment approach to care for my patient by utilizing therapeutic tools available to me and connecting my clients to other experienced and quality therapists to meet individual treatment goals. I work with adolescent and adults.
